To kick off a spectacular weekend celebrating everything double reed, here are the details for our opening gala concert:
Event Details
• Date: Friday, 2 October 2026
• Location: St John's Anglican Church, 5-7 Finch Street, Malvern East, VIC 3145
• Time: 7:00pm

St John’s is a convenient 10 kilometre drive from Monash University (Clayton Campus), making it an easy commute for conference attendees.

The Opening Gala Concert will feature a lineup of international, interstate and local oboists and bassoonists. Solos and chamber music will feature in the beautiful acoustics of St. John’s.
This will be the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow musicians, educators, and enthusiasts before the weekend sessions begin.

Getting There: Transport & Parking
For Friday's Opening Gala (St John's Anglican Church)
• By Train (Public Transport): The church is located 500 metres from Caulfield Train Station, and is also accessible by Tram (No. 9 Stop 24) and Bus to Caulfield Train Station.
• By Rideshare / Taxi: Uber and standard 13CABS taxis operate extensively. Simply search "St John's Anglican Church, Finch Street East Malvern" into your app.
• By Car & Parking: Free street parking is available along Finch Street and surrounding residential roads. Please check the roadside signs for any hourly time limits.

What Follows: The Conference Weekend
The rest of the conference and competition schedule will move to our weekend hub:
• Dates: Saturday, 3 October – Sunday, 4 October 2026
• Venue: Monash University (Clayton Campus), Wellington Road, Clayton, VIC 3800
• What to Expect: A packed program of masterclasses, presentations, trade displays, national competition, concerts and massed double reed ensemble performances.

For the Weekend Conference (Monash University, Clayton)
• By Train & Bus: Take the Cranbourne or Pakenham train line to Huntingdale Station. From there, walk outside to the bus interchange and catch the Route 601 bus, a high-frequency shuttle that drops you directly at the Monash University campus.
• By Car & Parking: On Saturday and Sunday, parking in the blue, yellow, and red permit zones is completely free of charge (no ticket or parking app required).
