Australasian Double Reed Competition 2020

 

Registration will open on May 1st 2020

 

This year will feature newly ADRS-commissioned works by Carolyn Morris. Available free of charge here from May 1st! 

 

 

Competition Sections

 

    

  • Beginner (up to Grade 2 Level) Learning for no more than 2 years 

1 work or without with piano accompaniment

Time limit: 2 minutes

 

 

  • Junior (Grades 3-4 Level) Learning for no more than 4 years 

1 work with piano accompaniment

Time limit: 4 minutes

 

 

  • Intermediate Section (Grades 5-6 Level) Learning for no more than 5 years

1 work with piano accompaniment

Time limit: 5 minutes

 

 

  • Senior Section (Grades 7-8 Level) Up to age 18
  • Set Work (new Australian work commissioned by ADRS - one for oboe and one for bassoon) AND 
  • Own contrasting choice with piano accompaniment (Time limit: 5 minutes)

 

  •  

 

  • Elite Section (Open Age) (Full-time professional players not eligible)

 Set Work AND

Own contrasting choice with piano accompaniment (Time limit: 8 minutes)

 

 

  • Beginner Adult  - Over 18 Years (up to Grade 5 AMEB)

1 work or without with piano accompaniment

Time limit: 5 minutes

 

 

  • Weekend Warrior & “Friends” Section 

Over 18 Years (full-time professional players not eligible, Secondary Teachers are welcome) 

From 1 to 5 players any combination (at least one double reed instrument) 

Time limit: 10 minutes

 

 

  • Baroque (Open Age) A baroque work performed on period or modern instrument

Time limit: 5 minutes
